Kelly Varguez, who hails from Western Nebraska, is a native English speaker schooled in languages and teaching. Her studies of literature and grammar in U.S. and Mexican universities have helped her develop high proficiency in Spanish. She has been a professional interpreter since 2006 and has experience in both the medical and judicial fields. She is certified to interpret at the state court level in Nebraska and Iowa, in Federal Courts throughout the United States, and is an ATA-certified Spanish>English translator. Kelly was struck by how challenging it was to find resources and guidance to improve her performance. When she achieved certification and began working in the courts, she saw how her colleagues who worked in languages other than Spanish struggled, even more, to find resources in their languages of expertise. Over time, she developed her own teaching materials and built relationships with language experts across the country. The result of this collaboration is this Language Neutral Oral Exam Preparation. This course has the objective of helping interpreters, of a diverse array of languages, gain access to quality training and achieve certification.
